USGBC National Capital Region announced its 2020 Community Leader Award winners on July 23, at its annual “A Midsummer Night’s Green” celebration. The widely acclaimed Grass House, a Steven Winter Associates project, is the recipient of the Responsible Design award. SWA provided sustainability consulting, served as the project’s Green Rater, and conducted manual J heating and cooling load calculations to confirm HVAC sizing and proper ventilation. The SWA team worked closely with Andrew Linn and Jack Becker of bld.us to deliver a truly environmentally innovative and responsible building.

The 18th annual award ceremony, hosted virtually, is USGBC-NCR’s biggest event of the year. A Midsummer Night’s Green brings together industry leaders and sustainability advocates from across the DC metro area to “toast the best of the best in local green building.”
